Topic: Almost everyone has heard her voice, but few people know who she is. Her name is Carolyn Hopkins, and she is the voice that alerts us at airports, the Disney theme parks, at train stations, and more. She’ll tell us what it’s like to talk to millions of people that she will never meet.

Bio: A graduate of the University of Louisville with a B.A. in Fine Arts, Carolyn has a background in advertising, promotion and audio/video production of over 30 years. This work included the position of Vice-President/Operations Manager – Allen-Martin Productions, Inc. She was chief writer for instructional and industrial videos for their clients ranging from General Electric to Standard Publishing to Chevron Oil.

She began her voice work in production at rock stations in the Louisville area in the early 1970’s. From the mid-1980’s to the present, she has done announcements primarily for Innovative Electronic Designs in Louisville, KY, for their many installations in airports, train terminals, subways, and major industrial complexes. These include the New York Subway, the Chicago Transit Authority, and Grand Central Station, as well as 85 percent of U.S. major airports. She also has been the voice of a dishwasher, the Tooth Fairy, and a number of banks in the U.K. who desired a “Yank” voice on their phone systems.

She and husband Marion live in Maine.
